How to: Remove TrueType fonts without deleting font files.
Solution:
Create a new folder in Windows Explorer, and copy the font to the new folder. In the Fonts window, select the font to remove, and press DELETE.
1) Use Windows Explorer to create a folder to store a copy of the TrueType font files.
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Programs' and select 'Windows Explorer'. (The 'Exploring - (C:)' window appears.)
c) In the 'All Folders' list box, double-click 'Windows'.
d) Select the 'File' menu and select 'New'. (A submenu appears.)
e) Select 'Folder'. (A highlighted 'New Folder' icon appears in the 'Contents of 'C:\' list box.)
f) Type a name for the new folder, and press ENTER.
2) Copy the fonts to be removed from the C:\WINDOWS\FONTS folder to the new folder created in step 1).
a) In the 'All Folders' list box, double-click 'Fonts'. (A list of all of the installed fonts appears in the right-hand frame.)
b) Select the font to be copied.
NOTE: To copy more than one font, press CTRL and select the desired fonts.
c) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Copy'. (The selected font(s) are copied to memory.)
d) In the 'All Folders' list box, double-click 'Windows' and select the folder created in step 1).
e) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste'. (The selected font(s) are pasted into the folder.)
f) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to exit the Windows Explorer window.
3) Remove the selected TrueType fonts:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
c) Double-click the 'Fonts' icon. (The 'Fonts' window appears.)
d) Select the TrueType font(s) to be removed from the 'List of fonts' list box. (The font appears highlighted.)

NOTE: To remove more than one font, press CTRL and select the desired fonts.
e) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Delete'. (The 'Windows Fonts Folder' dialog box appears.)
f) Click 'Yes' to delete the selected fonts.
g) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to exit the 'Fonts' window.
h) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to exit the 'Control Panel' window.
NOTE: To re-install a font which has been removed, install the font from the new folder created in step 1). In the 'Add Fonts' dialog box, be sure to select the 'Copy fonts to the Fonts folder' check box.
